So remember that Bullying awareness spot I was working on WAY WAY back? Well that PSA finally got snatched up by the folks at Not in Our Town. 4,000 hits later, the spot got the attention of CNN and they posted a little article about it. It wasn’t more than 2 days and 50,000 hits later I got a call for a live interview on HLN. Check the spot above and click the links below for the news stories and interviews.

Here is the finished spot for The Lung Cancer Foundation of America “The Haze”. Early this year, I produced, directed and edited this spot at Make for the LCFA. After shooting some breathtaking dancing by the talented Raina Gilliland and Choreographer Allen Fields, the fx wizards at Make played with their computers and made all the snazzy smoke you see. Stay tuned for a behind the scenes look of the shoot.

Shot on Epic with Zeiss Superspeed glass at Studio 1414. Cut on FCP 7. Finishing in After Effects, Fume and 3DS Max.

Marty Doogin Arts presents: Rough Tender

Yes Ladies and Gentleducks,

The guys at Marty Doogin Arts just recently posted the feature film Rough Tender in it’s entirety on their website.

I was director of photography on the film and it was by far one of the most fun exciting projects I have ever worked on. So make yourself a cocktail, light up a cigarette, and enjoy a film with quirky romance, a cussing grandma, peanut butter sandwiches and vampires that will rip your throat out and eat your eyeballs!

This is a piece I shot and edited up at Airstream Park near Clear Lake, MN a couple weekends ago. Recently the short spec was used during a rally of Airstreamer’s out in Colorado to represent the Minnesota based park. All footage was shot on Red Epic with Zeiss superspeed glass and all VERY docu-style. The video couldn’t have happened without Tracy Tabery-Weller and my beautiful wife Katie.

SO this is it! Finally, the folks at Marty Doogin Arts have released their first feature film, HOPE! and it’s ready for you to watch online RIGHT NOW! I had the pleasure of acting and doing make up effects in the film. Enjoy and support REAL indie film. The film will only be available for a limited time, so watch it NOW!

Trailer for the film:

http://martydooginarts.com/portfolio/hope/

Renegade guidance counselor Tony Hope has declared war upon illicit drug use by the student body at Andrew Jackson High, often resorting to extreme methods to enforce his one man prohibition, i.e. brutally beating up pot smokers. When a rising young drug dealer Vincent De Chapelle begins slanging a potent new strain of marijuana in the hallways of the suburban secondary school, Hope is faced with a question: how far must one go to send a permanent message to evil doers? A dark comedy in the vein of Dazed and Confused and Taxi Driver.

Update A-Go-Go

Hey everyone. So I have been a bit absent the last couple months, but fear not I am here to fill you in and deliver tasty images and news from my business.

First off, back in January I produced and directed an anti-smoking ad with a ballerina. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with the talented Broadway and film dance choreographer Allen Fields. Dancer Raina Gilliland lent her beauty, grace and extreme talent to the spot. The piece was photographed by Nick Junkersfeld on Epic and the FX were done by the guys back at MAKE, turning the beautiful dance into a smokey nightmare. Stay tuned for the final in the next month.

My Minnesota Arts Grant revenge film, “The Retirement of Joe Corduroy” test screened back in February to a healthy 100+ audience at the Parkway theater in South Minneapolis. I made the event a special double feature starting the night off with one of the films main inspirations, the original “Death Wish” with Charles Bronson. The screening went very well. I am currently submitting the film to different festivals. Once scored, the film will be posted on TwitchFilm

March was a busy month. I produced and directed a spot about Bullying Awareness at MAKE, shot a short film with Nick Junkersfeld with colleges Joe Dressel and Chris Cummings, and helped fellow filmmaker Jason Ho with a spot promoting Minnesota hip hop artist MaLLy’s, new album “The Last Great.” Stay tuned for all these finished pieces in the weeks to come! Until then, here are some sneak peeks!
